Jefferson Parish: Teachers’ Millage

Jefferson Parish voters will vote on one millage on their ballot in addition to the four constitutional amendments. A millage is a type of property tax levied by a local governing body such as the school board, the City or Parish Council, the libraries, the sheriff, or even a neighborhood association. This millage, proposed by the Jefferson Parish School Board, would provide funds dedicated to teachers’ salaries and benefits. We are without a doubt all for protecting our teachers’ livelihoods, and passing this millage ensures they don’t suffer massive pay cuts and layoffs.
